TOGL, Huawei Cloud Ink MOU to Drive Metaverse and Advanced Internet Services in Malaysia

The Malaysian internet technology firm, TOGL, has entered a strategic partnership with Huawei Cloud. The move followed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing during the Huawei Cloud Spark Discovery for Internet Industry event, held from April 25 to 28, 2023. This event was an esteemed gathering of Asia Pacific’s top industry leaders, held at Huawei’s headquarters.

TOGL, known for its rapid expansion in the Malaysian Internet space, operates popular applications such as Yippi, a social networking app, TopzMall, an e-commerce platform, and TogaGo, a travel services app. These platforms are primarily designed to benefit local communities and small and medium-sized businesses.

The successful utilization of Huawei Cloud’s technologies is most evident in Yippi, TOGL’s flagship product. Yippi is a multipurpose platform offering an array of services, ranging from social networking to healthcare. With a rapidly growing user base and the necessity to host live events, maintaining a robust and flexible system architecture is critical.

TOGL leverages Huawei Cloud Container Engine (CCE) Turbo and Relational Database Service (RDS) to meet these challenges. The containerized systems can quickly scale to manage traffic surges, adding up to 3,000 pods in a minute.

Meanwhile, RDS facilitates rapid read and write operations for user data. This ensures the smooth operation of the app, even during high-traffic periods.

Video on Demand (VOD) is a key feature in Yippi, and it relies on Huawei Cloud’s VOD service. This service uses the OBS + CDN pseudo-origin server solution to reduce latency and improve the quality-of-service parameters like the first frame latency, stream pull rate, and frame freezing. This solution not only enhances user experience with smooth video playback but also cuts down TOGL’s public network bandwidth costs by 50%.

Yippi is also expanding into the metaverse and virtual exhibits. To succeed in these endeavours, strong partnerships are vital. Fortunately, Huawei Cloud has a global network of over 41,000 ecosystem partners spanning various sectors, such as e-commerce, media, payment, and the metaverse. This extensive network is expected to accelerate TOGL’s innovation journey.

During the MOU signing ceremony, Mr. Zeng Xingyun, President of Huawei Cloud APAC and Mr. Roy Lim Jun Hao, CMO of TOGL Technology, stated that TOGL’s goal is to improve people’s lives and support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises. Their innovative business models and strategic partnerships with tech leaders like Huawei Cloud have been instrumental in their own growth trajectory.

With Huawei Cloud’s commitment to further tech advancements and services, TOGL is poised to usher in a new era of growth for Internet companies.
