Indonesia’s data centre arm, NeutraDC (a subsidiary of Telkom), has teamed up with Cisco to form the data centre for the Cisco Platform Mobile IoT (Control Centre) and improve Telkom’s data centre network infrastructure with the help of software defined network (SDN) technology.
The partnership aims to speed up 5G adoption and digitisation in the country and ASEAN by utilising IoT services and SDN for public use.
NeutraDC chief Andreuw Th A.F. reported “significant demand” for such services from companies involved in smart energy, smart building, smart city and consumer electronics.
He adds that the IoT Control Centre will help enterprises “launch, manage, and monetise” IoT services, while enabling them to scale up these services in Indonesia and other ASEAN members.
“SDN technology, network virtualisation and automation will play an important role in the service provider strategy blueprint, creating a DC network that supports new services in fast, agile operations,” Th A.F. says further.
The Control Centre will be available at NeutraDC’s data centre facilities all over Asia Pacific, with a capacity of some five million connections.
The collaboration will also increase IoT services development for Indonesian service providers, which, according to Cisco’s Service Provider Business country director, Meygin Agustina, is a need for service providers.
Among these businesses is Telkomsel, which has been providing digital IoT control centre services for its enterprise clients.
