Telekom Malaysia, ZTE Join Forces to Build Hybrid Cloud 5G Core Network for Future Technologies and Applications

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and ZTE (Malaysia) Corporation Sdn Bhd have announced a collaboration to develop a hybrid cloud 5G core network designed to support future technologies and applications.

Over the next three years, this strategic collaboration will drive innovation and advancement in TM’s 5G Core project, focusing on state-of-the-art technologies such as bare metal containers, SDN-based architecture, hardware acceleration, CUPS, and 3-layer decoupling. These technological advancements will pave the way for a converged, open, reliable, trusted, and efficient 5G core network.

The deployment of this network is expected to transform the processing and transmission of data, and significantly affect the development of future technologies and applications.

Furthermore, it will address the growing demand for network bandwidth and speed as Malaysia’s 5G adoption and ecosystem expands.

The converged network integration will enhance TM’s ability to deliver seamless connectivity and exceptional network performance across various industries, including healthcare, finance, transportation, and education.

Moreover, the hybrid cloud 5G core network will support the growth of smart cities, the Internet of Things (IoT), and other next-generation technologies requiring fast low-latency connectivity.
