Tata Chemicals among 25 Most Innovative Companies for 3rd consecutive year

Mumbai—Tata Chemicals has again ranked among the top 25 most innovative Indian companies by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Presenting the award to Tata Chemicals were Mr Kris Gopalakrishnan, former President of CII and Chairman of the CII Industrial Innovation Awards 2021, along with Dr S. Chandrasekhar, Secretary of India’s Department of Science and Technology.

The award evaluates all kinds of new processes, products, services, technologies, innovations and approaches that produce tangible results. Tata Chemicals placed among 25 winners in the ‘CII Industrial Innovation Awards 2021’ in a virtual award ceremony held during the 27th edition of DST-CII Technology Summit 2021.

“It is an honour to be recognised by CII for Excellence in Innovation and be counted amongst the Top 25 Innovative companies for the third year in a row,” said Tata Chemicals head, R. Mukundan. “We will continue to focus on science-differentiated innovation, digitisation and sustainability as key pillars of our mission of ‘Serving Society through Science’.”

“This award is a testimony of our commitment to emerge stronger as a sustainable, innovative and science-led company,” he added.

At present, the company operates four centres in India, namely, the Rallis Innovation Chemistry Hub (RICH) and Agri-Biotech R&D Facility both located in Bengaluru. The other two hubs are Tata Chemicals Innovation Centre in Pune and Tata Chemicals R&D Centre in Mithapur.

These centres support Tata Chemicals in creating advancements in the fields of Agricultural Sciences, Basic Chemistry Sciences, Nutritional Sciences and Material Sciences. These centers are presently working on 20 projects that involve food, nanotechnology and biotechnology.

Over the years, CII Industrial Innovation Awards recognised 179 firms as champions of innovation in their respective industries and industry categories. These Innovation Awards have also contributed to opening more business opportunities for winning firms. The awards ceremony saw participation from large corporations, as well as SMEs who entered their world-class innovations in the past year. The CII body has formulated an Enterprise Innovation Maturity Framework, which forms the basis for assessing firms applying for CII Industrial Innovation Awards.
