PLDT launches 10,000 Mbps Fiber Optic Service

PLDT, the Philippines’ lead broadband internet service provider, unveiled their new 10,000 Mbps Fiber Optic service that puts the country on par with first world countries such as South Korea, Japan, Sweden and the USA.

Statista.com, the leading market and consumer data provider, defines a ‘smart home’ as a private household that network devices are able to control and monitor. They predicted that 7.5% or 3.4 million of Filipino households would become active smart homes by 2025.

As early as now, PLDT is making the Philippines reach those numbers by providing users with the new PLDT Home Fiber Plan that includes a Wifi 6 Mesh System that will guarantee speeds covering an area of over 550 square meters.

Plans for this historic rollout have been in place since its pilot run back in December 2021, with plans to expand this project to more key cities outside of Metro Manila by 2022.

This is in line with the companie’s continued commitment to address the country’s growing digital connectivity needs, according to th Senior Vice President and PLDT Home Business Head Butch G. Jimenez, who states “With our all-new, upgrade, and fastest internet speed, Filipino homes will now be able to experience and enjoy the future – that is the smart home”.

As of September 2021, PLDT has added 324,000 new fiber subscribers, as well as given past consumers free upgrades to up to three times their subscribed internet speeds.

The telco giant ended the third quarter, leading the market with 2.77 million fixed broadband customers and 12.7 million homes, continuing their commitment to connecting the country.
