Philippine fintech leader, GCash, was invited at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. As the country’s top fintech app, operated by Globe Group’s Mynt, GCash’s President and CEO, Martha Sazon delivered his keynote speech on “New Behavior for a New Reality” at the main stage of the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry.
During the pandemic, GCash proved to be a crucial digital platform, enabling personal financial transactions online and supporting entrepreneurship despite movement restrictions. Sazon also gave his speech at the “Fintech Summit: The Rise of Fintech Disruption” on how fintech is enabling the creation of powerful and disruptive solutions.
With approximately 76 million users, GCash is now valued at $2 billion and has expanded its financial services to include payments, cash transfers, credit, savings, wealth, insurance, investment products, as well as retail, food, wellness, travel, recreation, and real estate services.
In another panel, Globe Group President and CEO, Ernest Cu, highlighted the company’s pivot from a telco to a techco. He joined other CEOs of top Southeast Asian telcos in a discussion on new network-related technologies and connectivity challenges in the Philippines.
The Mobile World Congress is the world’s largest mobile industry gathering, attracting exhibitors and visitors worldwide. Hosted by the GSMA, a global organization that unifies the mobile ecosystem, the MWC was held from February 27 to March 2, 2023.
