Nokia and NAVER Cloud Forge Partnership to Accelerate Southeast Asia’s Digital Transformation

Nokia, the Finnish telecom equipment giant, and NAVER Cloud Corp, a prominent South Korean technology firm, recently announced a formal collaboration aimed at catalyzing digital transformation across Southeast Asia (SEA). The two companies have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect.

Under the terms of the MoU, Nokia and NAVER Cloud have committed to working closely to proliferate best practices throughout the Southeast Asian region. The collaboration encompasses joint go-to-market initiatives, incubation programs for start-up businesses via NAVER Cloud Corp, and comprehensive brand-building strategies, as detailed in a joint statement.

Leveraging NAVER Cloud’s sophisticated Cloud Platform, along with Nokia’s unmatched IP Routing and Data Center Switching network infrastructure, the partnership aims to be a linchpin for telcos in the SEA region, supporting their transition into the next era of digital transformation.

Among the specific initiatives outlined in the MoU are efforts to encourage local telecommunications companies to adopt a sovereign cloud approach. The partners will also be actively engaging local Managed Service Providers (MSPs) in SEA, and they plan to devise a partner benefit program intended to fuel the growth of NAVER Cloud’s business operations in the region.

Furthermore, Nokia and NAVER Cloud are set to join forces in the shared mission of developing and expanding the cloud market across Southeast Asia.

“We are delighted to partner with global technology leader Nokia to spur on the digital transformation in the SEA region,” stated Weongi Park, Chief Executive Officer of APAC Business Development at NAVER Cloud. He added that the combination of “Nokia’s industry-leading solutions and our cloud expertise will together transform the DNA of various industry verticals in the region, enabling digital enterprises to scale rapidly and cost-effectively. This partnership is poised to serve as a catalyst for the region’s economic growth.”

On his part, Kent Wong, Vice President of IP Business at Nokia Asia Pacific, highlighted the increasing omnipresence of the digital economy. He emphasized the need for enterprises and telcos to have access to best-in-class data center infrastructure to guarantee superior user experiences as well as extreme availability, reliability, and scalability.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with NAVER Cloud to bolster cloud innovation across Southeast Asia,” Wong stated. “This partnership will empower digital businesses to harness cutting-edge technologies, unlocking new capabilities that will enable them to expand their revenue streams and enhance user satisfaction,” he concluded.

This strategic alliance between Nokia and NAVER Cloud symbolizes a significant step toward fortifying the digital ecosystem in Southeast Asia, and it aligns with the broader goal of fostering tech-driven growth and innovation across the region.
