Michelin, a global leader in high-performance composites and mobility experiences, welcomed media from across the region to its Asia Pacific Media Day 2024, held over two days at the Michelin Talent Campus in Chon Buri, Thailand.
Centred on the theme “Innovating for a Sustainable Future,” the event served as a platform for Michelin to showcase its commitment to long-term sustainability through innovation. Anchored by the company’s “All-Sustainable” strategy—People x Profit x Planet—the programme brought to life Michelin’s initiatives shaping the future of responsible manufacturing and mobility.
“These two days represent a unique opportunity for us to share and reflect on the strides Michelin has made towards building a sustainable tomorrow through our innovations.” Manuel Fafian, President of Michelin East Asia and Oceania, reflects: “It was important to us to bring our vision of “Innovating for a Sustainable Future” to life, not just in words, but by showcasing some of the impactful initiatives Michelin is driving in Asia Pacific and beyond.”
Attendees gained insights into Michelin’s advancements in composite technologies and its growing leadership in sustainable practices. Presentations and panel discussions featured not only Michelin executives but also representatives from partner organisations such as Kiattana, Maersk, and NIO.
A guided tour of the Michelin factory gave visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the company’s pioneering use of recycled and renewable materials—including natural rubber and rice husk-based silica sourced from Asia—in tire manufacturing processes.
The event also included a sustainability-focused culinary experience hosted by Michelin executives, with a specially curated meal from Haoma, a One MICHELIN Star and MICHELIN Green Star restaurant, further reinforcing the brand’s commitment to sustainable living across sectors.
One of the event’s key highlights was Michelin’s roadmap toward achieving 100% recycled and renewable materials in its tire production by 2050. Guests viewed homologated tires containing 45% (road) and 71% (race) bio-sourced and recycled materials—delivering performance on par with traditional alternatives.
