Hong Kong SAR & Shanghai, China, 2 April 2025 — Hang Lung Properties Limited is commemorating 15 years of collaboration with Tsinghua University, marking a pivotal milestone in one of Asia’s most enduring and impactful partnerships between academia and the real estate sector.

Established in 2010, the Hang Lung Center for Real Estate at Tsinghua University has grown into a recognised hub of research and innovation, advancing thought leadership and knowledge exchange in sustainable urban development across Mainland China. This long-standing alliance underscores the shared vision of both institutions in elevating the standards of China’s property industry through research, talent development, and strategic dialogue.

To mark the occasion, a high-level forum titled Forum on Sustainable Development of Cities and Real Estate Cum 15th Anniversary of The Hang Lung Center for Real Estate was convened. The event brought together more than 3,000 participants, including industry professionals, academic scholars, business leaders, and media. Keynotes were delivered by senior voices from the China Institute of Real Estate Appraisers and Agents and the National Development and Reform Commission, underscoring the national significance of the initiative.

Over the years, Hang Lung has contributed more than RMB 33 million to support the Center’s research initiatives and academic activities. These efforts have translated into over 500 published papers and a robust presence at key industry events, such as the Asia Pacific Real Estate Research Symposium and the Hang Lung Real Estate Seminar series, helping to shape policy and best practices in the region.

In 2023, the collaboration evolved to address critical issues in sustainable construction and urban planning, with the introduction of the Sustainable Real Estate Research Scheme. This initiative targets green building research, low-carbon strategies, and proptech innovations aimed at smart city development.

Looking ahead, Hang Lung and Tsinghua University reaffirm their commitment to deepening their cooperation. By fostering knowledge, policy insight, and technological progress, the partnership will continue to contribute to China’s real estate transformation and offer globally relevant perspectives on urban sustainability.
