Globe Telecom has reinforced its long-standing collaboration with cybersecurity firm Vectra AI, aiming to further safeguard its vast network infrastructure in the Philippines.
Through this expanded partnership, Globe has significantly reduced alert fatigue—by 99%—and sharpened its threat detection capabilities, according to Vectra AI. These enhancements are key to maintaining reliable, secure services for the telco’s more than 80 million subscribers.
In just a year, Globe Telecom leveraged Vectra AI’s advanced cybersecurity solutions to gain a clearer view of potential threats that previously went undetected. The integration of Vectra’s AI-powered Attack Signal Intelligence gave the security team a deeper understanding of anomalies across their network, while its Network Detection and Response (NDR) system, in tandem with CrowdStrike’s Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), provided full-spectrum visibility from core infrastructure to endpoints.
The improvements were tangible: Globe slashed its average incident response time to just 3.5 hours while cutting alert volume and escalations dramatically.
“With Vectra in place, the light started to turn on. Its automation and filtering capabilities allowed us to focus on the most important threats, which made our team more efficient and effective in our response,” said Anton Bonifacio, chief information security and chief AI officer at Globe Telecom.
The comprehensive visibility granted Globe tighter oversight over lateral movements and east-west traffic—an essential component for uncovering stealth threats and preempting potential breaches.
“Ultimately, for security decision makers today, it’s about focusing on what’s urgent, by having the best view possible of the entire infrastructure and subsequent threats, assessed by severity and impact,” said Aylwin Lam, regional director for Vectra AI Asia.
Adding to this layered defence is Vectra’s Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service. With 24/7 expert threat hunting and analysis, the MDR offering provided Globe with continuous support and real-time threat management—allowing internal teams to focus on the most critical incidents.
“The MDR aspect was a key differentiator for us. Vectra’s MDR team and their threat-hunting expertise have been invaluable in helping us secure our environment,” Bonifacio said.
This announcement follows the release of a new Vectra AI study, which highlighted widespread concerns among APAC security practitioners. According to the findings, 73% believe their organisation may have been compromised unknowingly due to alert overload.
The report also revealed that nearly half of SOC teams expressed dissatisfaction with their current tools—underscoring the need for smarter, AI-driven security platforms.
