Averis Embarks on Cloud Transformation with RISE with SAP

Averis is accelerating its digital transformation by adopting RISE with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and SAP Ariba — a strategic move aimed at boosting operational agility, optimising costs, and delivering better client outcomes.

Headquartered in Malaysia and operating across Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas, Averis delivers shared business services in finance, HR, and procurement to more than 300 clients worldwide. For over a decade and a half, the company relied on a traditional on-premise SAP ERP system to run its operations.

With global expansion well underway, Averis is now modernising its IT infrastructure to improve scalability, simplify system upgrades, and manage operational expenditure more effectively. The migration to SAP’s cloud environment allows the company to enhance its agility, while simultaneously meeting stringent data control requirements.

The company opted for a hybrid deployment model through RISE with SAP, combining both public and private cloud environments. This approach enables Averis to retain localised control of sensitive customer data while enjoying the scalability and automation capabilities of the cloud.

“Over our 15-year partnership, SAP has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of our business and commitment to our success,” said Herminto, VP of Group IT at Averis.

“With their unwavering support, we could tailor a hybrid strategy that works for us, so we can reap the full benefits of the cloud while maintaining control over sensitive data, ultimately enhancing our business continuity and reducing costs for our clients,” said Herminto.

Since the transition, Averis has tapped into new capabilities in data analytics, automation, and client engagement. These upgrades have directly contributed to an 8.5% increase in client satisfaction, driven by faster response times, more personalised service, and improved flexibility in managing client needs.

The cloud migration is also transforming Averis’ financial model. By shifting from a mix of capital and operational expenditure to a full OPEX model, the company has recorded an 11.5% reduction in total cost of ownership. This streamlined structure allows the business to scale its computing capacity on demand and strengthens the resilience of its IT systems.

Looking ahead, Averis is laying the groundwork to support innovation in key growth areas such as artificial intelligence and sustainability. The company anticipates leveraging AI to boost employee efficiency and maximise resource use across its facilities.
